|June 12-13||Depart your home airport today. We have special prices and schedules this evening that originate in Washington, DC (Dulles airport), Seattle and Los Angeles. There is a four to seven hour layover at London airport as well as a change of time, which creates the loss of date.|
|June 14||Arrive Johannesburg at 8:05AM this morning. If you would like to arrange your own airfare, arriving as close to or before this schedule is best. If you arrange your own airfare you can remove $1,000 per person from the safari price per person. You will be able to choose this option on the booking form. After clearing customs, we will meet our guide and driver to begin our creation journey safari. We will drive approximately an hour to Pretoria – The capital of South Africa. Pretoria is a vision of purple, thanks to its plethora of blossoming trees that gave the South African metropolis its nickname: Jacaranda City. The buildings of Pretoria reflect diverse architectural styles and influences, creating a unique urban landscape. We will stop at the National Zoological Gardens. Here you can get up close and personal with some of God’s most majestic cats while visiting the Cheetah Research and Breeding Centre. Afterwards, we will depart Pretoria and drive towards the Mokopane region, rich in creation evidence. We will arrive at our safari lodge and get settled into our luxury African accommodations, where we will enjoy a dinner overlooking the Bush. BLD (B=breakfast, L-lunch, D=dinner)|
|June 15||Sleep in this morning and have some free time to explore the lodge and camp. We will have praise and worship as we fellowship together. Take part in one of our creation lessons titled “In the beginning”. After our lesson, try your hand at archery, enjoy the pool or some of the lodge’s other unique activities during your free time. After dark, benefit from a lesson in astronomy and enjoy star gazing at its finest, as we uncover some of the mysteries of God’s creation of the sun, the moon, and the stars. BLD|
|June 16||Rise and shine early this morning with coffee and pastries and get ready to be amazed! For those who are ready, come enjoy an incredibly rare opportunity with an optional adventure “walking with the lions”. What a way to start a safari! Those who prefer can stay at our luxury lodge and enjoy a rest, some spa time or one of the many other amenities of our lodge.
For those taking our unique opportunity to walk with lions and their young, we take a short drive in small groups of 9 to the lodge. This exclusive program has been operated
And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” – Genesis 1:22.
During good rainy seasons the floodplain becomes a hive of activity, with the best estimate for water bird numbers being approximately 80,000. The system also plays an important role for frogs and fish, which gather in large numbers to breed when the plain becomes flooded. We will return to the lodge in the afternoon. Dinner together with a special concert from Buddy Davis! BLD
|June 17||Today will be our full day photo game drive, one of the most exciting days of our trip. Our game drive, undertaken by highly trained rangers, offers the privilege of up-close big five game viewing. The big five includes the lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino. Be sure to have your cameras ready, as diversity on the reserve is astounding, with more than 55 large mammal species, 300 flowers, 50 grasses, 140 trees, 380 birds and innumerable insects, reptiles and amphibians.
And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. – Genesis 1:25
Lions are seen almost daily, and are such successful hunters that they can afford to leave some morsels for the Verraux’s Eagles, which have cleverly filled the scavenging niche on the reserve. We will have lunch at the Legend’s resort at Entebeni. After safari and lunch, the resort itself will be a highlight no matter your interest. Any of the activities mentioned next are additional. You can take part in them, or you can return to the safari lodge for volleyball or swimming.
Golf: The Legend golf course at the Entabeni Safari Reserve has earned itself a reputation as one of the world’s most demanding courses, with each of its 18 holes having been built by a legend of the sport. However, it is the Extreme 19th, an additional hole, which is perhaps the most fearsome of them all. Set up high on the Hanglip Mountain, the hold can only be accessed if you don’t mind a quick jaunt in a helicopter, simply to be able to tee off. That’s because the tee is perched on the edge of a mountain, some 400 meters above the green on the Par 3 hole, which is considered one of the most stunning and one of the most difficult holes anywhere on the planet. It truly is quite stunning, but probably isn’t one for anyone who suffers from vertigo.
Spa: The 5 star spa is available for those who wish to relax and enjoy a little pampering.
Active: There is so much to choose from this afternoon. You can enjoy pizza in the local pizzeria, take a mountain bike ride, rent a segway and whisk around the property, take on a competitive game of paintball or even go up in a hot air balloon! BLD
|June 18||This will be a truly fulfilling mission day. On this field trip, we will experience the real Africa, with a visit to a children’s school to see first-hand how they spend their days learning and how they study. We also may visit a farm and experience how the locals support their family and community. This day will truly enrich your children’s minds as they come to appreciate some of the many things they can often take for granted. We will return to the lodge where the children will have to opportunity to enjoy the final lesson on creation, while adults can join in or enjoy some of the lodge activities alone. This evening we will join together by the fire for a time of worship as we celebrate all God has given to us. BLD|
|June 19||This morning enjoy your free time with some of the lodge’s activities. Book a spa treatment, take the family hiking, or play a round of golf at Legend’s. Late afternoon, we will gather together for an evening bush tour and dinner. This will be another chance to see wildlife in their natural environment, as we set out for our final safari to photograph the wildlife. We also experience the sun, as it dips below the horizon and share the adventure with the fellow believers over a fabulous, ‘African’ cuisine. Spend the evening reminiscing with the kids and sharing your favorite stories from the week around a raging fire under the stars. BLD|
|June 20||Today we will visit the Waterberg Savannah Biosphere Reserve. Here we will enjoy a lesson into Noah’s flood as we explore the findings seen throughout South Africa and talk of the evidence to support the passages. This reserve covers an area of some 15,000 square kilometres and was designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2001. It is considered not just one of the country’s foremost conservation projects but also an attractive wildlife viewing destination. It also offers the additional excitement of a good selection of adventure activities, including bush hiking trails, mountain biking, cattle mustering and some of the finest off-the-beaten- track in Africa. The first private game reserve in the country to obtain the highly endangered black rhino, the 360 sq km Lalapala was established in 1981 by well-known South African conservationist Clive Walker. Visit to the Vaalwater Animal handling center today, where they have world-renowned Big 5 auctions. Tonight we will enjoy one last night around the fire as we fellowship, worship and gaze upon the stars and God’s amazing creations above and around us. BLD|
|June 21||Enjoy a restful time this morning as we begin to say goodbye to our dear new friends! We visit a hands on interactive Elephant Reserve mid-morning. You will have an opportunity to touch, ride and feed these amazing, gentle animals. Study their eyes, their feet, their huge toenails and their love for their children. God is so good! We drive through the city of Jo’burg late in the afternoon and see Freedom Square and pass the home of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Apartheid Museum. The flight departs at 8:00PM. Prior to the flight we will have a lovely farewell dinner together! BD|

Biblical Creation Tour Passages
The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, But are her wings and pinions like the kindly stork’s? 14 For she leaves her eggs on the ground, And warms them in the dust;15 She forgets that a foot may crush them, or that a wild beast may break them.
Job 39:9-12 9
Shall the rhinoceros be willing to serve thee, or will he stay at thy crib? 10 Canst thou bind the rhinoceros with thy thong to plough, or will he break the clods of the valleys after thee?11 Wilt thou have confidence in his great strength, and leave thy labours to him? 12 Wilt thou trust him that he will render thee the seed, and gather it into thy barnfloor?
There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:30 A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;

1. Through the use of The Word, we trust that once you have returned from your trip, you will have gained a deeper knowledge of the scriptures and the multiple layers of teaching and truths that are inside each.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
2. You can be assured an experience like our previous participants, who have gained an appreciation of how God uses everything for His glory and for the purpose of furthering knowledge and understanding. You will see this as you encounter the geology of the land, the geography where events actually occurred and the archaeology that may (or may not!) still exist. Furthermore, through the remaining people in the land, the practices still in place and demography that have endured.
Colossians 1:20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
3. Further, our assurance is received that through The Word; the teachings you will be exposed will solidify the truth which you and your family have been taught by seeing, touching and hearing the scriptures each day. We assert and firmly believe Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
4. You and your family will experience the oneness of the body of Christ during our trip. Just as Jesus prayed in John 17:21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
Along with our assurances, we would like to offer the testimonials of those who have traveled with us. Check out their stories on our Living Passages Testimonials page!

We will be visiting the fabulous Limpopo area of South Africa in June, during the dry season. You may see health advisories for rainy seasons where malaria has been a risk (May through October). We will be providing you with up to date information and we encourage you to seek your own medical advice. At the time of printing there are no health statements made that would require any type of special vaccinations to take this safari. There is information on our website and available through the CDC.

Africa Creation Tour & Safari with David Rives and Buddy Davis
June 12 – 22, 2018
Weather & Apparel
You’ll be visiting in a lovely time of year for South Africa. The temperature during the day will be 67° to 70° and wearing layers is the key to comfortable travel. Rain isn’t expected, but you should consider including a top layer that can be scrunched-up and put in a light back pack for day trips. Comfortable, informal clothing is all that you’ll need to bring. The communities we will be visiting are very conservative. Consider packing Teva®-like walking sandals with warm socks, tennis shoes, light hiking boots and the like. You’re encouraged to bring the type of “safari“ clothes that you can rinse in the sink, hang-to-dry and be ready to wear again. (The lodge can do laundry for you, as well. ) Cool evenings require a coat or heavy fleece sweatshirt, as well as a fleecy ear-covering and gloves, as do early mornings. The individual tents and cottages each have a boma or fire pit nearby, but very early morning and late evening rides in open 4WD vehicles require extra, warm coverings. Some evenings will be spent around a large communal fire and on one special evening, we’ll all participate with a stunning worship service outdoors. Adults will receive a pocketed safari shirt in their final, pre-trip packet. Again, consider packing clothing that has multiple pockets, as well as a very light back pack so that a sweatshirt or rain cover can be carried with you. Also, please plan to bring/wear a “fanny-pack”/“bum-bag”, to use to carry your camera, small bills and change, a water bottle, meds., etc.
And, even though we rarely encounter bugs are rare, please consider packing some of Avon’s “Skin So Soft”, which is available from Avon reps., as well as on Amazon, in convenient, individual packages. It has a pleasant fragrance and can be worn around-the-clock. This will be especially useful the day that we visit an animal enclosure. Consider opting for “soft-sided luggage” (like a duffle bag) when packing for this trip. All of the tents and thatched cottages have full electricity, bathrooms, showers and are quite lovely.
The basic unit of currency in South Africa is the “Rand”. As of November, 2017, 1 Rand is equal to $.71 US. When we arrive at the Johannesburg airport, we would like for each person to convert at least $150.00 USD into Rand and to ask for it in small denominations, as you will not have another opportunity to do so. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you do so! There are banks in which one can exchange currency while waiting on luggage to come off the aircraft. There is also an ATM machine at the terminal, but it’s best not to rely on this option. When using an ATM, the money is GENERALLY dispensed in the local currency (Rand), but it’s recommended that you exchange it elsewhere. Please also bring at least $300 per person for any “emergencies” that might arise. If you are a highly benevolent person, you could bring more in case The Lord brings something to your attention. Bring NO denomination over $50 bills, please. PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS, AS IT WILL SAVE YOU MUCH INCONVENIENCE.
For those guests taking advantage of our air-travel provision, there will be wait of several hours at the Heathrow airport. This airport will take dollars, but if you plan on leaving the airport on a tour, please consider that you MAY want to buy something along the way (like a beverage or snack), for which British Pound Sterling will be required. The airport is a virtual city. It has showers, hotels, shops, tour departures, quick access to the city, etc. More on this later in this article.
Credit cards are not widely used where we’ll be traveling, and, although they will work at airports, that’s about the extent of their usefulness. All of our meals will be prepaid with the exception of one lunch meal. Virgin Atlantic includes all meals with their flights, but meals at the airports must be paid for separately. Travelers’ checks have an advantage of security, but are generally considered “a thing of the past.”
Airline Information – Ideas for a London Layover:
Virgin Atlantic is a carrier based in the UK. Their partner in the USA is Delta Airlines; they are also a partner to Air New Zealand. In order to earn Delta miles, a Delta number must be provided at check-in. Mileage points with Delta may be earned and redeemed when flying on Virgin Atlantic, as well. Seat assignments will be issued on May 15, 2018, or within a very few days thereafter. Groups fall under specific guidelines regarding seat assignments that differ from individuals and couples flying together. The earlier that you arrive to check in at Washington Dulles, Seattle or Los Angeles, the better. Again, be sure to bring your mileage numbers with you and determine that they are entered for each flight that you will be taking. ***Note: Virgin Atlantic offers economy, deluxe seats. To take advantage of this, one needs to go online and change seats 36-hours prior to departure at a cost of between $98 and $120 per seat, as of November, 2017. (One may also “bid” on business-class seats and use “travel miles”, although these option rarely work, in our experience.) https://www.virginatlantic.com/us/en/my-booking/upgrade.html
Our group flights have a layover in London. Bearing in mind that when larger pieces of luggage are checked-in, that they will not be accessible until arrival in Johannesburg, if there’s a chance that one might want explore a bit, “carry-on” luggage must be taken with. Here are three ideas to keep in mind:
- No 1 Lounge: Virgin Atlantic has a private lounge where a bedroom can be purchased for a few hours (48GBP) or $65 USD, this allows wifi, showers, etc.
- The Heathrow Express can be taken straight from the terminal into London’s famous Paddington Station. The trip takes 15-minutes each direction and the fare is age-based. Pricing and additional ideas can be seen on the Virgin Atlantic website or on the Heathrow Express site. Tickets may be purchased upon arrival or in advance.
- “Hop on/hop off” tours are available in London and are a fun way to spend a couple of hours. https://www.bigbustours.com/en/london/classic-london-tour-ticket/
- Consider taking a private tour of Windsor Castle or Stonehenge with a driver meeting you or your party at the airport and returning you “on time”. They have numerous options from which to choose: https://www.londontoolkit.com/tours/heathrow_windsor_tour.htm. Remember, these ideas are being offered as a courtesy; we have no connection with any of these tours or arrangement in any manner.
Both airlines and ground operators have really tightened restrictions on the weight and size and number of pieces allowed on their planes and vehicles and may charge hefty fees for what they define as “excess” or “overweight” baggage.
Consider both planning and packing carefully and thoughtfully. Checked Baggage Allowance: Economy: 1 piece ONLY with a maximum weight of 50 lbs. and with the maximum sum of dimensions equaling up to 62 inches. Special luggage tags will be mailed directly with your final documents. Please attach them to both checked and carry-on luggage, as they’re especially helpful to baggage handlers.
We will have laundry opportunities everywhere that we travel. What an incredible blessing it is for us that the hotel sends our soiled clothing to a local woman who feeds her children through this service! Since you may want to do some hand laundry, we suggest bringing a good, cold-water soap, such as Woolite®, and a couple of large Zip-lock®-type bags. (Plan to have any laundry done by the 4th night of our journey.)
If taking an electrical appliance, other than cell phone or lap top, two items are CRITICAL to pack. Cell phones and lap tops are now manufactured to accept the voltage of any location. It is the unique “plug size” that must be obtained in advance. A C-Pap machine, for instance, will need the current/voltage transformer and the plug adaptor. ***Note: The lodge provides hair dryers. Consider packing a voltage converter kit or purchase appliances that have built-in converters. These kits are readily available at Walmart, Target, Amazon and luggage stores. And consider buying an extra one, as many travelers inadvertently leave it in the wall when departing their stay. If taking camera or electronic equipment that requires recharging, check your reference books for any specialized converters that may be required. Here is a picture of what the adaptors look like:
Amazon sells the above for $6.99:
And if you needed the transformer as well, once you are equipped it would look like this:
South Africa is 10 hours ahead of Pacific time, 7 hours ahead of Eastern time and 2 hours ahead of GMT.
Health Requirements and Precautions
The area to which we are traveling is not known for diseases—especially during the month of June when we will be there. There is no requirement as far as Malaria prevention. This information is current as of October, 2017. We recommend that you contact your health provider in March, 2018, to see if this is still accurate. In the event that you are visiting a place in Africa or Asia on your way to our trip that has a history of Yellow Fever, you will be required to carry a certificate. South Africa has a high level of health-care and visitors are screened so as to not import an infectious disease. This is the CDC statement on the area to which we are traveling: “Middle-and upper-income South Africans live in low-risk environments, have a standard of health comparable to that of North Americans, and have access to world-class medical facilities.” It is always a good idea to have a current Tetanus vaccination. No shots of any kind are required for U.S. residents for this tour. However, if you have personal health concerns, we urge you to talk with your local health department or a doctor who specializes in travel-related medicine. There may be precautionary recommendations for you to consider. ***Note: Purchase the additional insurance and ALWAYS drink bottled water.
Take twice the number of memory cards that you think that you’ll need; there’s a lot to photograph! Check with your local camera store for any appropriate filters that might be needed. ***Remember, if taking pictures of local people, it is best to have first established some type of relationship with them – even a smile — and then request permission. When in doubt, do NOT take the shot. We will spend quite a bit of time in unlighted areas in the early mornings and evenings. Keep in mind, “flash” will not do justice to the sights you will have an opportunity to capture.
Hunting, Fishing, Breeding and Game Tracking
If we have hunters amongst us, we have a hunting area at the lodge. We can pre-set a time for hunting; however, we would ask that for anything that you “bag” that you be prepared to PAY the local provider for that animal, as the Lodge must replace it.
What a blessing and what an opportunity for you and your family to be a part of the hunt-of-a-lifetime. Hunting here also supports a broad range of relief and social services. Our profits help to contribute to the health and happiness of the next generation of African children and families. The lodge assists in community work in South Africa and to the drilling fresh water wells in Zambia. Your hunt is also helping to change lives, as every trophy that is won here, up to ⅓ of the bill balance can be donated as a tax write off (USA residents only) to help children of Africa. Through the revenue you pay for the animal, the team is able to raise funds, provide the meat and assist in numerous feeding projects.
You will also be able to participate in animal tracking while at the lodge. This is a program by which new animals are introduced and monitored for breeding and also monitor any injured animals. We take a few people at a time, and you will be able to participate in “conservation in action.”
If you are a fisher-man or woman, let us know, as we have a great fishing hole nearby and you will want to bring some of your personal gear.
Activities – Extra
The safaris, meals, resort, 4WD-use onsite, breeding and tracking center, missions outreach, teachings, concert, putt-putt golf, movies, lodge, private boma use with games and facilities, fishing, swimming pools, mountain bikes, animal safaris, an elephant specific day, tours, as outlined, are all included in your trip. There are also some exceptional activity opportunities geared towards specific interests that can be added, as well.
Your daily schedule will be established by mid-March. There will be plenty of time to decide in which, if any, off-site activities you would like to participate. The following add-ons which are not included in your overall trip include:
- Golf or spa services at the world-class Entebeni and Legends Lodge
- Golf or spa services at the Ranch Resort
- Segway rental at Legends Lodge
- Hot-air balloon trip
- Hunt with animal kill and preparation
- Private air flight to Zambia for water- and well-work
- Walk with Lions (included for adults and older children booked by December 22, 2017)
Crime and Animal Annoyances
Leave expensive watches and jewelry at home. We will be fairly isolated except for the first and last days. We are currently waiting to learn if there will be a wild animal auction during our scheduled visit. That auction will bring vehicles ranging from broken wheel barrows to jets. The two days you will be at an off-site game lodge (Legends and Ranch Resort) you will have access to spa and golf facilities.
When we are on game drives, we will have armed trackers accompanying us. Our safari vehicles are all open-air, as are our 4WD vehicles that run us to-and-from our tents and cottages. You will always have an “escort”. If you forget your camera, you will be driven by an escort in order to retrieve it. You will not be allowed to drive any of the the 4WD vehicles on your own. There is a rough, bicycle path on the mountain where riders can experience rugged terrain, if desired. The trackers need to know where you will be and you need approval in order to be on the trails.
Passports and Visas
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your scheduled return date. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you will be required to obtain any additional visas or approvals. If you are bringing a child who will be traveling with only one and not both parents, you will need to bring a signed and notarized letter from the absent parent of the child/children verifying who the child/children is/are with, who is responsible for the child/children and the reason for that temporary transfer of custody/responsibility. Likewise, if the child with whom you are traveling is a niece/nephew, grandchild, the same proviso applies.
Essentials for Packing
All needed medications need to be brought with you in carry-on luggage and there may be no convenient place on our itinerary to obtain refills. Plan to bring an extra pair of prescription glasses or the prescription for same. Prescription medicines should be in their original containers. ***Remember, you’re packing a fanny pack/bum bag to wear around your waist to hold your camera, extra film, water, and small bills and change. Passports and the majority of your monies should be carried in a more secure way, such as in a money belt that fits under the waistband or under a shirt. Sunblock is essential, as is the previously-mentioned Skin So Soft or some other bug repellent. In the event that there is a fisher-person in your party, please tell us so that we can put you close to Fish Lodge. And, if so, please plan to bring a collapsible fishing pole. Also, for EVERYONE, consider bringing a small set of binoculars.
Instant Sanitizer,—“Purell®“or similar—is popular with travelers for disinfecting of hands. Remember to pack in your carryon all of your valuables, including money, medicines, cameras, etc. The “3-1-1” TSA restrictions governing what can be packed in your carryon are still in effect. It would be a kindness to bring items for children, such as deflated soccer balls, pens, pencils, writing paper and the like. There’s always “room for” such items! To prepare for the trip, may we recommend getting quiet with The Lord and allowing Him to prepare your heart. Psalm 84:5-7 can be a wonderful guide. We pray that The Lord leads you and guides you to prepare for someone special whom will be given the chance to bless by your generosity. In Isaiah 6:8, Ezekiel prayed: “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’” We will have more details on the day that we visit our missions in the coming months as Blessman Ministries fine-tunes (and reports to us!) their needs.
Your cell phone will work only sporadically at the Lodge. It WILL work the day that we are at Legends and at the Ranch Resort. There is WIFI at the main lounge, though not at the tents or in the cottages.
We will be sending, with your documents, telephone and contact information for our staff and the Lodge. Share this information with your family and friends.
Tipping is not common in South Africa but it is a VERY large blessing! We recommend that you go DIRECTLY to the service providers, e.g., maids, waiters and waitresses, and bless them with a small, financial gift. Please consider leaving our driver a small token of 3 to 4 Rand/per day/per person. Those cooking and preparing for you are our Christian brothers and sisters who are under attack for their faith and are providing for their precious families.
And, Most Importantly…
Pray for God’s blessing on our trip, that God will use your investment to His glory, and for a Christ-centered response to each day and every situation. Pray also for an abundant amount of discernment.
